Program Description.
Dietetics prepares Registered Dietitians to practice dietetics at an advanced level and/or pursue doctoral study. The program seeks to develop research skills, stimulate independent thought, and provide up-to-date knowledge in foods, nutrition, and food service/business management. This program prepares individuals to integrate and apply the principles ranging from the biomedical sciences, human behavior, and management to design, and to lead effective food and nutrition programs in a variety of settings. This online program will be a degree tailored for credentialed, practicing dietetics professionals who seek to enhance their knowledge in a specific area of dietetics practice or to retool for new career opportunities in dietetics practice. The following courses are only taught through the GP Ideas program: NFS 705, NFS 722, NFS 723, NFS 727, NFS 728, NFS 729, NFS 734, NFS 741, NFS 742, NFS 765.

Core Requirements
Twelve (12) credits of core courses - these must include STATS 541, NFS 734 (Research Methods in Dietetics), NFS 735 (Current Trends in Dietetics), and NFS 760 (Vitamins and Minerals in Human Nutrition), NFS 798 - 6 credits (Option A), or NFS 788 - 3 credits (Option B). This is a total of eighteen (18) electives for Option A, twenty-one (21) electives for Option B, and twenty-four (24) electives for Option C.

Option A (thesis) plan requires six (6) credits NFS 798 Thesis; Option B (Research Paper) plan requires three (3) credits NFS 788 Individual Research and Study; and Option C requires a comprehensive written exam. The students schedule of courses must be approved by his/her faculty advisor and graduate committee.

GRE: Not required TOEFL: required score of 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, 79-80 Internet-based IELTS: 6.0
You must be credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics submitting a copy of a current RD card as documentation. General Requirements (Master’s Degree)
