EM 523 - Theory of Plasticity

Analysis of stress and strain; plastic behavior of materials; basic laws of plastic flow; applications to bending of beams, torsion of bars and thick-walled cylinders; slip line theory and its application to extrusion problems; limit analysis theorems and their applications to structural problems. Pre-requisite: EM 422/522 or  instructor consent. Credits: 3
