CHEM 115 - Honors General Chemistry ICredits: 3 This course serves as an advanced introduction to the principles of general chemistry relevant to preparation for organic chemistry. Topics covered include atomic structure, theories of bonding, molecular structure, inter- and intra-molecular forces, the structure-activity relationship, and qualitative thermochemistry. This course is intended for students majoring in chemistry or biochemistry, or those who have been admitted to the honors college. Completion of a high school course in chemistry is required. AP credit will not be acknowledged as equivalent to CHEM 115. CHEM 112/CHEM 112L may not be substituted for CHEM 115/CHEM 115L unless explicitly allowed by the department head. Corequisites: Corequisite courses: CHEM 115L and MATH 102.
