Program Information

Master’s students receive advanced training in theory, methods, and the practical application of interdisciplinary knowledge in the social sciences. At South Dakota State University, master’s students may choose from two academic tracks: thesis and non-thesis options. Information on graduate assistantships is also available on the school’s website.

Course Delivery Format

Graduate courses are generally delivered face-to-face in small seminar settings.

Each applicant should have 2 signed letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with the student’s academic record. It is required that applicants also include a writing sample and personal statement. The personal statement should identify the student’s academic goals and describe how those goals fit with the faculty’s expertise and interests.
