Program Information

The French minor at SDSU is a valuable option to complement any major, especially in people-centered professions that require constant interaction with individuals from various backgrounds. The minor offers flexibility, can easily be added to any major, is communication-oriented, and can be earned quickly when combined with a study-abroad or foreign internship experience.

Course Delivery Format

The French Studies program offers flexibility and variety in the delivery of its courses. Some, including upper-division courses, are taught face-to-face.

Academic Requirements


There are no application requirements to enroll in the French Studies minor. However, students with previous knowledge of the language must take the placement test and register for an appropriate course. Additionally, all the courses for the minor must be passed with a grade of “C” or better.
