Basic structure and properties of engineering materials, the effect of environmental conditions on mechanical and physical properties, emphasis is on civil engineering materials such as steel, aluminum, polymers, cement and timber. Testing of mechanical properties of civil engineering materials including stress and strain measurement. Proportioning, mixing and testing of small concrete batches. Proper analysis and reporting of laboratory data is emphasized.

Prerequisites: CHEM 112.
Corequisites: CEE 216L-216.
