NUTR 751 - Interprofessional Obesity Prevention: Implementation and Evaluation

Credits: 3
The purpose of this course is to allow students to gain knowledge of and experience with transdisciplinary obesity prevention research. Students will be taught how to find obesity prevention related grant opportunities, expose students to different types of funding opportunities, allow them to learn the common components of grant applications, and gain experience writing grants in transdisciplinary teams. Students will be introduced to community based participatory research, the clinical approach to childhood obesity prevention, and the art of partnership and working in transdisciplinary groups. The course will also teach scientific writing techniques for peer reviewed journals, abstract writing, poster creation, and how to write articles for the lay public. Prerequisites: NUTR 750 .
