Program Information

Through the Commodity Risk Management minor, students develop the quantitative skills necessary to analyze agricultural commodities, including hedging strategies, market analysis, price forecasting, and risk assessment. Students gain hands-on experience using the First Dakota National Bank e-Trading Lab, with emphasis on managing input and output price risk through futures and options markets. The minor is designed for agricultural producers as well as industry partners—such as brokers, bankers, insurers, input suppliers, and buyers—and is applicable across the food, fiber, and fuel supply chains. Graduates pursuing careers in any agribusiness will benefit from enhanced decision-making skills related to cost control and pricing.

Academic Requirements

A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for the courses in the minor.

Total Required Credits: 18
