AS 215 - Introduction to Integrated Ranch Management Credits: 3 This course introduces the basic principles of ranching and the food and fiber system. Students will be exposed to the complexities of modern agricultural production systems. Topics include: natural resources as the basis for successful ranching; the family as the major supplier of labor and capital; animal and agronomic production systems; economic and financial forces; risk and opportunity; agricultural policy and law; the decision making process; and stress as the driving force of change. Students will incorporate outside readings into discussions and practice planning exercises held during lab sessions.
