HON 491 - Independent Study (COM) Credits: 1-3 Includes directed study, problems, readings, directed readings, special problems and special projects. Students complete individualized plans of study which include significant one-on-one student-teacher involvement. The faculty member and students negotiate the details of the study plans. Enrollments are usually 10 or fewer students. Meetings depending upon the requirements of the topic.
Notes: Honors College students work one-on-one with a faculty mentor on an original scholarly project related to their academic and professional goals. Projects may include laboratory, field, or social science research; design projects; historical analyses; or original creative pieces in literature and the arts. Students are encouraged to take HON 390 to help prepare for their Independent Study. Deliverables include a scholarly paper and presentation at a public scholarly venue. Registration is by permission upon approval of the application for Independent Study form.
