HIST 410 - African American Studies: EarlyCredits: 3 This course traces the early experiences of people of African descent in the Americas (specifically North America and some parts of the Caribbean). Topics addressed include: European and African encounters, the trans-Atlantic slave trade, the development of New World slave societies, trans-Atlantic migration and settlement, the emergence of free black communities, and blacks in the American Revolution and the Civil War.
