ME 540 - Computer-Aided DesignCredits: 3 The use of digital computer as a design tool. Techniques and algorithms which increase the rationality of the design process. Design principles and optimization theory. General approach to constrained optimization. Probabilistic approaches to design. Computer-aided design to reliability specification. Application of computer graphics to engineering design. The emphasis is on extending the designer’s potential and not on automating those activities. Prerequisites: Competence of FORTRAN and instructor consent.
