PS 723 - Simulation Models & Their Uses

Basics of crop simulation models and use of crop simulation models as research tools, management tools and policy tools.  Design of simulations to fill gaps in knowledge.  Students will learn how models can aid in decision making for crop production under current conditions and identify the crop sensitivity to future predicted climates.  Design of future crop genotypes and cropping systems.  Simulation of bioenergy feedstock production to estimate soil carbon sequestration and GHG emission reduction.  Prerequisites: PS 103 or PS 543. Credits: 3
