ENGL 151 - Introduction to English StudiesCredits: 3 This course, required of all first year English majors, will provide students with the background and professional skills to read critically and write analytically about literary texts. Students will learn to write from a variety of critical and theoretical stances. In addition, the course provides training in research methods for the discipline, including use of print and electronic sources, and in MLA documentation style. Students will generate bibliographies, source studies, and both documented and undocumented critical papers. Papers will be based on readings from poetry, fiction, and drama.
