EM 216 - Statics and Dynamics (COM) Statics: The study of effects of external forces acting on stationary rigid bodies in equilibrium. Frames and machines, friction, centroid and moments of inertia on areas and mass are discussed. Dynamics: Newton’s laws of motion are applied to particles and rigid bodies. Topics considered are absolute and relative motion; force, mass, and acceleration (or particles and rigid bodies); work and energy; and impulse and momentum (of particles).Credits: (3-4)Prerequisites: P, MATH 125, PHYS 211 or consent.
